Buddy Program:

It is our mission to provide individuals the support needed to accomplish their goals.  A part of this is helping them to be as independent in the community as possible, and assisting them to develop natural supports.  Developing friendships with people in their community is a great way to build independence.  In this effort, we have developed the Buddy Program.  In this program, we match clients with a volunteer based on their interests and hobbies.  We ask for a commitment from volunteers to do at least one activity a month with their buddy.  It could be shooting hoops at the park, or going out to a movie, maybe going to a local sporting event, or a craft show.  Whatever activity might interest both the volunteer and the individual.  The focus of the program is spending time with a friend and good role model, and building that friendship and independence.  Individuals are responsible to pay their way for all activities.  If you are interested in volunteering to participate in the Buddy Program, or possibly one of our other service areas, call: Emily Martin  712-623-4362 ext. 221.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

We are excited to start safely getting involved with all our friends in the community again. We host a birthday club once month and would love to have volunteers come celebrate with us! Additionally, we'd love to come visit you at your workplace. Email Emily at emartin@nishna.org to schedule a visit.
