Nishna provides supervision and independent living skills training to individuals with disabilities in Residential and employment services settings. Benefits offered after 90 days for positions of 34+ hours per week. Buddy Program:
It is our mission to provide individuals the support needed to accomplish their goals. A part of this is helping them to be as independent in the community as possible, and assisting them to develop natural supports. Developing friendships with people in their community is a great way to build independence. In this effort, we have developed the Buddy Program. In this program, we match clients with a volunteer based on their interests and hobbies. We ask for a commitment from volunteers to do at least one activity a month with their buddy. It could be shooting hoops at the park, or going out to a movie, maybe going to a local sporting event, or a craft show. Whatever activity might interest both the volunteer and the individual. The focus of the program is spending time with a friend and good role model, and building that friendship and independence. Individuals are responsible to pay their way for all activities.
