RECEIVES THE PRESTIGIOUS AMERISTAR “STRENGTHENING THE COMMUNITY AWARD”

Nishna Productions, Inc. was one of the three non-profit Southwest Iowa organizations to receive the prestigious, annual Ameristar “Strengthening the Community Award”. The award and check for $1,000 was presented to NPI’s Executive Director, Sherri Clark, at a luncheon in the Riverside Room of the Ameristar Casino on Thursday, October 15, 2009.

The selection criteria for the award included some of the following elements: management excellence, board leadership, community outreach and collaboration, challenges overcome and quality programs.

Ameristar Advisory Committee Board member, Jacky Adams, stated when presenting the award that, “ Nishna Productions has been quietly building successful lives and making a positive impact in Southwest Iowa communities for over 35 years.

National review organizations, such as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and Ability One, a national program that promotes the employment of persons with disabilities, have awarded the agency with the highest possible achievement awards for services provided, management excellence, and agency performance for the past 24 years.

Major emphasis by the agency has been service to the community. The organization employs 150 individuals and serves 200 people with disabilities. In both Red Oak and Shenandoah, employees and individuals with disabilities take part in a variety of chamber activities such as helping with plantings in city parks, assisting with monthly chamber festival activities, and assisting with special Christmas drives. The agency has also initiated special donation drives to the Food Pantries in all of its service areas. These facts are evidence that Nishna Productions, Inc. has taken pride in strengthening their communities through community involvement.”

Company Profile

Nishna Productions, Inc. was founded in 1974 by a group of concerned citizens from Southwest Iowa. The first services were offered to seven individuals with disabilities. After more than 30 years, NPI serves approximately 200 individuals with disabilities, and employs 150 staff. Some of the services we provide are Work Activity, Adult Day Activity Program, Personal & Social Adjustment, Residential Services, Home & Community Based Services, and Employment Resources. We have facilities in Shenandoah, Red Oak, Malvern, Sidney, Glenwood, and Council Bluffs, Iowa.
