NPI ANNOUNCES A NEW BUSINESS DIVISION –
“TREASURED PETALS”

Nishna Productions, Inc., proudly announces a new business division to its operation, “Treasured Petals”. For quite some time, Nishna Productions, Inc., has been in the process of researching many ideas for the creation of several agency-owned businesses.  The purpose of these businesses would be to provide regular vocational opportunities to people with disabilities, to serve a community need that has not been met; and to generate some additional revenue for the agency.

Several agencies serving people with disabilities in Iowa have successfully developed a business in which flowers used at a funeral, wedding or anniversary celebration can be dried and commemorated in a one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted floral wreath.

After several months of intensive research, the management at Nishna Productions, Inc., decided to develop a commemorative wreath business and  named the business, “Treasured Petals”.  The floral arrangements will be created by people with disabilities served by Nishna Productions, Inc.  This will not only give individuals with disabilities a wonderful vocational opportunity, but it will give them a chance to create a lasting memory for someone.

How does it work?  You can contact Nishna Productions, Inc., directly for prices and detailed ordering information.  Monica Bartlett, Business Developer for Nishna Productions, Inc., will be glad to handle your order and share information about the variety of wreath designs as well as pricing information.  You can reach her by calling the Shenandoah Work Center at 712-246-1242.

In case of a memorial arrangement, a funeral director can assist you, if they are participating in the “Treasured Petals” service.  Many local funeral homes and chapels have agreed to distribute brochures about the service and include that information in the packets of information given to the family.  At this time, the following Southwest Iowa funeral homes and chapels have agreed to participate with Nishna Productions, Inc.:  Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home, Selby-Kirsch Funeral Chapel, Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel, Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Nelson-Boylan-Lerette Funeral Chapel and Sellegren-Lindell-Demarce Funeral Home.

The process includes having the flowers chosen by individuals or family members.  The flowers are then delivered to Nishna Productions, Inc. Work Center locations in Shenandoah and Red Oak.  The flowers are then dried. It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks from the receipt of the flowers to the production of a finished wreath.  Each wreath requires approximately 3 or 4 floral sprays.  When the wreath is delivered it is wrapped and care instructions are included.

Several local floral shops have been very supportive and are giving Nishna Productions, Inc. excess flowers that they would normally discard to be used as fillers in wreaths.

NPI ANNOUNCES ANOTHER NEW BUSINESS DIVISION

Nishna Productions, Inc., announces a new business division to its operation, which will provide secure document destruction services.  In an attempt to assist local businesses with secure document shredding compliance and give individuals with disabilities a regular vocational opportunity, the management at Nishna Productions, Inc., decided to pursue this business opportunity.

The business was developed at the Shenandoah Work Center.  In order to qualify for the secure shredding business, a room was remodeled at the Center and was made secure according to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act standards.  Several shredding machines have been leased to assist in the operation.   The process is as follows:  (1) Lockable tubs are issued to customers; (2) The tubs are picked up by a secured vehicle; (3) The documents are placed into a secured room; (4) The Shred Room is always locked; (5) All workers are checked for any documents on their person before leaving the shred room; (6) The shredded paper goes to a recycler; (7) Upon request, businesses will be issued a certificate of destruction.

Many hospitals, banks and other businesses have to transport their document shredding to other areas, or hire companies to come and perform the services on-site.  Secure document destruction services provided by Nishna Productions, Inc., will give local businesses an opportunity to have secure shredding completed locally and give individuals with disabilities another great vocational opportunity.

For more information about the business, please contact Monica Bartlett, Business Developer, at the Shenandoah Work Center, 246-1242.

NPI is publishing their first cookbook, "Comfort from the Cupboards" which includes over 750 family favorite recipes submitted by the outstanding cooks employed by Nishna Productions, Inc. The book features a variety of recipes printed in an attractive and practical manner.  It sells for $12.00 each and can be purchased by calling Kathy Collins at the Shenandoah Work Center, 712-246-1242.  The books will be available for pickup at the front desk of the Shenandoah or Red Oak Work Centers after November 1st.  They will make wonderful gifts for the holiday season.  This is an agency fundraising project and the proceeds will be used to enhance the lives of people with disabilities.
