Remedial Services
This
funding method is available for persons with a Chronic Mental Illness diagnosis.
Community Living Skills Training and Employment-Related Services are
provided by NPI.
Persons interested in pursuing this funding mechanism must start with
their Medicaid or County Case Manager or DHS Service Worker.
Remedial
services must be “rehabilitatively necessary” according to Iowa
Administrative rules, which includes the following:

Reasonable and necessary;
*
Rehabilitative in nature and not primarily habilitative;
*
Designed to promote an individual’s integration and stability in the
community and quality of life; and *
Designed to promote an individual’s ability to obtain or retain
employment or to function in non-work settings and address the symptoms of
mental and functional disabilities and behaviors resulting from chronic mental
illness that interfere with these activities.
